"...there's endless space beyond the body in which to live. In some ways, limitations had set me free."

One day, twelve-year-old Marguerite Black inexplicably loses her balance while riding her bike. Over the next few years what has been a dimly perceived threat slowly becomes a reality. This is an account of her struggle to come to terms with Friedreich's ataxia, a crippling neurological disorder. Quietly determined to retain as much physical independence as she can, she grows spiritually in ways that even surprise herself. And while living with the condition remains a daily battle, Marguerite's journey teaches her to 'dance' in her own way.

"...the experience of living with the condition is, in itself, a form of healing. It will take many more years for me to fully realize that. The most rewarding way in which to live is through accepting pain and embracing joy."

Marguerite Black is 33 years old and lives in Cape Town. This is her first book.
